The Marciano brothers create the modern equivalent of la dolce vita
GUESS was founded in 1981 by Moroccan-born designers and brothers Paul and Maurice Marciano. Denim-driven from the beginning, GUESS became one of the world's leading designer jean brands in the 1980s, thanks, in part, to the revolutionary black-and-white ads they began producing in 1982. In 2004, the brand expanded with a new contemporary collection called Marciano, and a younger, California-casual inspired division, G by GUESS, was introduced in 2007.
